2. Composition/information on ingredients

A complex emulsion of highest quality anionic and non-ionic surface active agents, stabilising agents, alkalis and phosphate detergent builders, in an aqueous base.

Contains <3% Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) - CAS No. 1310-58-3 - EINECS No. 215-181-3

Decon 75 is a milky white, non-viscous liquid concentrate, having faint odour.

3. Hazards identification
 
Xi - irritant May cause irritation to skin, especially if exposure is prolonged.
May cause severe eye irritation.
4. First-aid measures

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, flowing water and seek immediate medical attention.

In case of contact with skin, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, flowing water.
Seek medical attention if there is persistent irritation.

If ingested, drink copious amounts of fresh water and seek immediate medical attention.
Do not promote vomiting.

5. Fire-fighting measures 

Use extinguisher suitable to the cause of the fire.

6. Accidental release measures

Absorb large spillages with sand or any suitable medium.
Dispose of in accordance with local authority guidelines.
Small spillages may be flushed away with plenty of water to a drain or sewer.

7. Handling and storage

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Use glass, ceramic, plastic (not polycarbonate) or stainless steel vessels for working solutions

Store the concentrate at ambient temperature, out of direct sunlight, sealed in the container in which it is supplied, and away from strong acids and aluminium.

Stored correctly, Decon 75 has a shelf life of 5 years.

8. Exposure controls/personal protection

Wear eye protection and rubber gloves when handling.
Clothes may be protected with man-made fibre over-garments.

Melting point -4.1ºC (product is a liquid).
   
Boiling point 100.5ºC.
   
Density  1.087 at 20ºC.
   
Vapour pressure 17.1 mm Hg. at 20ºC.
   
Evaporation rate 0.49 (butyl acetate = 1).
   
Viscosity 7.39 cps at 20ºC.
   
Solubility Totally soluble in water.
Miscible with water soluble solvents.
   
pH value The concentrate has a pH in excess of pH13.

Ignition temperature Does not burn or help other materials to burn.

11. Toxicological information

Decon 75 should not be ingested. Toxicity is low, but high alkalinity is likely to be harmful.

No known evidence of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or reproductive toxicity.

12. Ecological information

Acceleration of weed and algae growth by phosphates.

Decon 75 is biodegradable.
Ready biodegradability by OECD 301E (ISO method 7287 - 1986(E)).
